Saturday 1st July Go Ride & Youth Ride

Happy 9th Birthday Oliver!
Today was our last coached session of this term, so an ideally opportunity to get all the classic Go Ride props out.  We started with a CX style warm up with lots of mounting, dismounting and running; one blast on the whistle for ride and two for dismount.

After a tough physical warm up we moved onto technique.  We split the site into four coaching areas, each focussing on a different skill:  Riding slowing to avoid obstacles (the swamp), riding one handed and retrieving articles (bottle pick), cornering (gate slaloms) and body position (mini lump riding with limbo).  Each group moved around the skills areas, taking their coach with them.

A sea of KVK blue, even the cakes.
We used the break to wish Oliver a Happy 9th Birthday. His sister had made amazing KVK cupcakes complete with blue buttercream swirls and chocolate wheel decorations (Damian commented on the low spoke count ;-)) and everyone was enthusiastic to try them!
