Spring In The Park - Championship Night 7th July 2017 - Congratulations to ALL our riders

KVK & KVRT SITP TEAM

This was the last evening of Spring In The Park 2017.  It's been a great series for our riders; their confidence has grown over the weeks and they are all undoubtedly better bike riders now than when they started.  Huge thanks to the support crew for all their help and assistance, it's been the best ever SITP for the KVK and KVRT.

THE RIDERS
Ivo, Thomas, Betsy, Franklin, Lucy, Oliver, Albert, Jago, Eloise, Hope, Nico,
 Ellen, Polly & Toni.

All the riders who raced at SITP are featured here.  To be placed in the overall series results riders must compete in at least six events.
Thomas - this was Thomas's first experience of regional racing.  He started out on his flat barred Frog bike, before trying out the club road Frog.  He raced five times with good results, just missing out on eligibility for the series by one race.

Ivo & Thomas on the start line

Nico - raced 5 times so did not qualify for the overall standings.  He did however show huge determination and commitment to race in a high quality field. He has a knack for ending up in the bunch sprint with the front runners!

Nico just behind the leaders in the bunch sprint!

Jago - this was Jago's first experience of regional racing.  He raced a couple of times on his new road bike, I'm sure he'll be back next year.

Betsy - inspired by her brother Albert, Betsy raced once this series but decided to launch her racing career proper next season, she was a regular and enthusiastic spectator.

Franklin was keen to have a go at racing at Cyclopark after his success at Bedgebury. Unfortunately he had a tumble on race night so didn't make it to the start line but I'm sure he'll make it next time ( I haven't got a photo of Franklin at Cyclopark, anyone else?)

Overall Series Results

The silverware ;-)

Under 8 Boys Ivo, raced 8/9 races,  finished third overall with 52 points just one point behind his closest rival Alex from LEC.  Ivo moves up to U10 Boys next year.

Under 10 Boys Oliver raced all 9 races and finished 10th overall with 10 points.  Albert raced 7 times and finished 9th overall with 17 points. Both riders have another year in the U10's

Under 10 Girls Lucy raced all 9 races and finished fourth overall with 39 points.  She seems to have been well and truly bitten by the racing bug.  She has one more year as an Under 10.

Lucy in fourth place, in her first season of racing.

Hope, Lucy and Eloise practising their podium smiles!

Under 12 Girls Hope raced all 9 races and finished third overall with 48 points, just one point behind her close rival Freyja from Thanet. Eloise raced 7 races and finished 5th overall with 32 points.  SITP was Eloise's first experience of regional racing, she raced on one of the club bikes, but recently acquired her own bike.  Both will move up to the U14s next year.

Working hard on the home straight

Hope in 3rd place, Eloise in 4th in her first season racing

Under 16 Girls. Toni, Polly and Ellen all races 8 times like the seasoned racers they are (sorry for lack of detail but I really should have done this a while ago...) They finished 1st, 2nd and joint 3rd overall, although Ellen missed her step on the podium on the count back.  There is little doubt they will all be racing next year, Toni moves up to Junior, Ellen and Polly still have one year left as U16's. As well as their brilliant racing it's great to see them inspiring the younger riders in the club.
