Smile Says It All For New Club Road Bike

Lottie has been road testing one of our new Isla Bikes and despite the cold weather the verdict is good.

Lottie joined the youth ride a few weeks ago and successfully tackled the Col de Mote in Ightham, a climb which has made grown men cry!  She has also been out munching up miles with her mum on the local lanes.

Well done and thanks to Lottie and Viv.

We have two of these bikes, a 24" and a 26" wheel.  They are available to loan to members who regularly attend our Go-ride sessions.

Saturday 23rd March - Lovely Spring Day Take 2!

I woke up on Saturday morning to a chilly scene, including a light dusting of snow and evidence of more to come.  The usual suspects were still up for the youth ride and put in a very respectable 15.5 miles, averaging 12mph including the Cold de Porc.  Well done guys.

Clean again and ready for action!

By the afternoon there was no improvement in the weather so I took the decision to cancel our coaching session.  Hopefully we will have more luck next weekend.

Another Lovely Spring Day - Saturday 16th March

Some people are never put off whatever the weather!  Serious respect for the riders who braved the wind and rain on Saturday morning for an assault of the Col de Coldharbour followed by a couple of time trials and an elimination limbo at the coached session in the afternoon.

Claire and Hope took a detour to reach the fallen tree first.  On the return leg Toni managed to combine her love of horse riding with cycling, she posed for a picture  "Toni with a Pony"

The perimeter path was the course for our time trials today; 15 minutes for the U12's and 10 minutes for the U8's followed by an individual 1 lap loop.

Youth ride 9.30am - contact me - approx 13 miles

Saturday 9th March

The weekend kicked off with our youth ride heading out towards Ightham Mote.  They have already proved themselves on the flat so we decided to take in some climbing (836ft to be precise).  Four young riders completed the 12 mile ride, averaging 11 mph and managing the climb  effortlessly.  Well done everyone, particularly Lottie who joined us for the first time.

Later that day, we met up again at Stock's Green for our coached session.  We spent the first part of the session working on bottle pick skills, more experienced riders worked on retrieving items from the ground.  Then we moved onto group riding skills using an E shaped circuit with a couple of challenging bends.  There was lots of tight, controlled riding from everyone which shows all your hard work is paying off!

 Next Week's sessions:

Ride Out - MTB - Meet 9.30am Westwood

Go Ride - Stocks Green - sign on 1.45pm
