Saturday 27th April Ride Out and Go Ride at Stocks Green

Amazingly the sun was shining today and it was possible to strip off a few layers for our ride up Coldharbour Lane.  Seven riders shot up the hill prompting Damian to suggest that it really is time for a KVK hill climb challenge.  The paths have dried out a lot and we decided to attempt the muddy field.  With the gate open almost everyone made it through a particularly deep patch and across the bumpy field.  Back at Westwood there was time for a quick spin on the pump track.

Later that day, we met up again at Stocks Green School for a coached session.  The grass had dried out enough to do some track style racing.  We spent some time working on gears and starts before having several rounds of team pursuit and devil racing.

No session next weekend

Go-ride Racing at Cyclopark Saturday 20th April

Ellen, Hope, Phoebe, Dom, Lottie, Tom, Toni, Luke & Polly spent the morning at Cyclopark, Gravesend taking part in Go-ride racing hosted by Club Cyclopark.  We took along our three club road bikes and they all got put through their paces thanks to some fast bike changes between races.  Full results to follow, many of our rides enjoyed podium finishes and it was great to see you all in your shirts.  Sorry I was rather wasted but that is one of the downsides of bike riding!

It was well attended!

On a roll, another podium finish for Tom

Go-ride Racing Easter Saturday 2013

Seventeen young riders signed on for our first racing event of 2013.  We took the opportunity to use some of the new kit from our Go-ride Racing kit bag, including the banner.  Riders took part in a total of six events: endurance time trial (10 or 15 mins depending on age), individual 50m sprint, individual 500m time trial, plank riding, sumo games and slow race.  The aim of these events is to give children the opportunity to compete in a range of activities.  We finished off the afternoon with some Easter egg pick in place of the traditional bottle pick.  The results were compiled quickly and efficiently by Clare and winners got the chance to take their place on the podium, no medals but Creme Eggs instead for the winners.

Kent Velo Kids at Cyclopark 2nd April

We met at Cyclopark and spent an hour riding the trails before having a short break and moving onto the road circuit.  Cornering practise was followed by some devil racing on the oval circuit, followed by a handicap race. Some pictures of the day below, I'm still struggling to get them to display how I want them to....roll on the website.  There was also lots of video footage taken on the day which should appear at some point. Thanks to everyone who took part; riders, parents and photographers for making it a fun morning.  Please let me know if you enjoyed it and would like to do it again.

Easter Saturday

The sun finally came out for our Go-ride session on Easter Saturday.  The session has two parts; speed and skills. Riders took part in an endurance time trial, an individual sprint and and an individual time trial.  After a short break they completed skills challenges including plank riding, sumo games and a slow race.  We finished the afternoon off with some seasonal bottle pick with chocolate eggs instead of the usual water bottles.  Pictures to follow!
