Friday 29th May - Sunday 31st

Regional School of Racing Lee Valley Velopark
I managed to make it up to Lee Valley Velopark today where BC were running a Regional School of Racing session for South and Eastern female youth riders.  Riders from across the region are invited to take part in these sessions that aim to develop skills and involve riding for at least four hours at varying levels of intensity.  Hannah was flying the KVK flag for us and did exceptionally well in the wet and windy conditions.  She needn't have worried about being able to keep up ;-)

Friday Night Spring in the Park Round 4
U14's start
Straight from Lee Valley to Cyclopark - phew what a busy day of cycling.  Slightly fewer riders this evening, possibly due to the half term holiday, but the usual level of energy and enthusiasm being exuded by our riders!

Warming up on circuit E

Results: U12 Boys Nico 18th, U14 Girls Polly 1st, Tony 2nd, Catriona 3rd, Sophia 4th. U16 Boys Calvin 21st

Sunday - long Youth Ride
Soggy Sunday ride

With Kary away on her track course Polly, Hannah, Calvin and Toni and myself were joined by Bee and Hamish for Sunday's youth ride; with the miserable weather, wind and a limited time frame, some dynamic planning saw the longer planned route shelved for another day.  Instead we covered some fairly familiar territory, heading out via Philpots to the causeway, limboing our way through the road closure on Station Hill before making it to Penshurst and an assault on the super steep Smart's Hill. After a couple of enforced stops to retrieve dropped items we made our way round to Hever before taking in the "classic" tour of the reservoir followed by a speedy blast up Hale Oak Road to Weald and back to Hilden. Great riding - 26.2 miles in 1hour 48 (14.6 average) and 1700ft of climbing - and we were back well in time, still smiling (if a bit mud splattered).  Many thanks to Bee and Hamish for riding out with us
